Appeal for information following bike robbery in West Kirby

We are appealing for information following a report of a robbery in West Kirby on Sunday  21 April. 

 

At around 8.15pm it was reported that a 14-year-old boy was sitting on a bench with his friend in Ashton Park when two males wearing face coverings approached them and went to take their bikes. 

 

It was further reported that when one boy tried to stop the offenders he was threatened with a knife and an unknown object placed against his chest.

 

The boy was not injured but shaken by the robbery.

 

The bike is an orange and black Giant Talon mountain bike (see above picture).

 

An investigation is underway with officers carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.

 

Detective inspector Philip Ryan said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident, and I would appeal to anyone who was in vicinity to please contact us.

 

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved. 

 

“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.

 

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
