We can confirm that the body of a man found in the River Mersey is that of missing 48-year-old Carl Williams.
Officers received a report that the body of a man had been found at around 9.50am on Sunday 11 February in the River Mersey.
Following extensive forensic examinations by Merseyside Police the man has been formally identified as Carl Williams who had been reported missing on Friday 29 December 2023. Officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.
His death is being treated as not suspicious and the case was referred to the coroner’s office.
