Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision in St Helens are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
At around 4.30pm on Monday 4th December 2023, Paul Cunliffe, was involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Micra and a white Ford Transit van on Sherdley Road, near to Peterlee Close.
The 40-year-old dad-of-two from Thatto Heath, was taken to hospital but sadly passed away.
Both drivers of the Nissan Micra and a white Ford Transit van remain under investigation for causing death by careless driving and enquiries remain ongoing.
We are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything significant on their dashcam or CCTV to contact us.
We have also issued CCTV images (below) of four vehicles, who were in the area of the collision, which we still want to trace.
Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We still believe there were motorists in the area at the time of the collision who either saw Paul prior to collision wearing a high visibility jacket or saw the movements of either the Micra or Transit van who have yet to come forward.
“These people may think we have all the information we need but it is important that get in touch and tell us what they saw. Any piece of information they have may be vital to our investigation.
“While the images we have of the vehicles are not the clearest we hope that motorists may recall driving along Sherdley Road around 4.30pm on Monday 4th December and recognise their vehicles. Please contact us if you can help.
“It is four months since Paul’s death and his family have understandably been left devastated. Your information may assist us in giving his family some answers."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage of the collision is asked to call our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 23001226394.
