High visibility patrols continuing in Spital area of Wirral

Our officers are continuing to patrol in the Spital area of Wirral following the death of 90-year-old Myra Thompson at her home in Bolde Way on Tuesday (23^rd April).

High visibility patrols and a mobile police station remain in the area to offer reassurance to local residents and anyone who has any concerns or questions is encouraged to speak with our officers.

Wirral neighbourhood Chief Inspector Dave Morgan said: “Thankfully incidents such as this are exceptionally rare but we understand how frightening and upsetting it must be for people living in the local community and, in particular, for the elderly or those who are living alone.

“Our investigation is moving at a fast pace and we have made two arrests. We are currently examining a number of lines of enquiry as well as examining CCTV, doorbell camera footage and speaking to potential witnesses.

“Our officers have also been out and about on the streets in the local area speaking to local residents, offering reassurance and answering any questions they have.

“I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to the officers.
