Man arrested after report of stabbing in Litherland

We have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following reports a man was stabbed in the Litherland area yesterday morning, Wednesday 17th April.
 
We were contacted by the Northwest Ambulance Service at 9.20am following reports that a man, who is in his 20s, had been found in Cross Hey with stab wounds to his back and chest.
 
He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not life threatening. It is believed the attack was targeted and took place inside an address.
 
A 29-year-old man from Litherland was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody. 
 
Detective Chief Inspector Paul McVeigh said: “Although an arrest was made yesterday evening in the Litherland area our enquiries are ongoing and house-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries are still being carried out.
 
“I would like to reassure residents that at present we believe this was an isolated incident that took place inside an address in the area and no one else was harmed.

“If you were on Cross Hey at around 9am yesterday  and saw or heard something suspicious which has led to this violent incident please contact us.

“I would also ask people who live in the area to check their doorbell or CCTV footage just in case they may have captured something which may be vital to the case. This information could be essential to our investigation and I would urge anyone with information to contact us.”
