We can confirm that emergency services are currently on Village Road in Heswall following a serious road traffic collision this afternoon, Sunday 21 April.
Just after 1.30pm we received a report of a collision involving a man, a grey Fiat Punto and two parked vehicles on Village Road. The car then collided into a building in the area.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services safely removed the 29-year-old man from behind the vehicle. He has been taken to hospital via an air ambulance with serious injuries to his leg.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service remain at the scene and a structural assessor will decide if the property is structurally sound and safe.
Village Road and Gaton Road is closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: "We are in the very early stages of establishing the circumstances of this incident. Officers are currently at the scene and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out.
"We are interested in hearing from anyone who saw the incident and are urging residents with CCTV or smart doorbell footage to check your systems for any evidence. Any information you have, however small you may think it is, could prove to be vital to our enquiries.”
