We have arrested two men following a reported burglary at a business in Old Swan in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 3 April.
At around 12.10am, it was reported that a business on Prescot Road had been broken into and that two males were still inside the premises.
Emergency response officers were able to arrive at the scene shortly after the call and put a containment in place on the building.
One male was found hiding in a bush next to the building and he was arrested, while a second male was spotted on the roof.
He came down safely around two hours later and was arrested.
A 29-year-old man from Liverpool and a 21-year-old man from no fixed abode have both been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “Thanks to the fast response from officers, we were able to arrest two males at the scene on suspicion of burglary.
“The burglary of business premises is not a victimless crime – it can impact on people’s livelihoods, their income and can of course have an emotional impact on victims. I hope these arrests show that we have a zero-tolerance approach to burglary in Merseyside.
“We will continue to work with our local businesses and communities to deter and prevent business burglaries and would welcome any information from the community about other burglaries or the sale of stolen goods.”
