We are releasing CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with enquiries following a report of a hate crime in Halewood on Thursday 8 August.
At around 5.40am, a report was made that a teenage boy had been walking along Higher Road towards Hunts Cross at around 5.15am when he was subjected to abuse by a male cycling behind.
Shortly after, the victim’s father saw the suspect nearby, at which point the suspect caused damage to his car using his own bicycle.
Extensive enquiries are ongoing and detectives would like to identify the male pictured as he may have information to assist.
Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and the victims and family are extremely shaken by this despicable incident, and we are supporting them as our investigation continues.
“Hate crime will never be tolerated on Merseyside, and we understand the distress and upset that being targeted in this way causes.
“I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
Detective Inspector Al-Ramadhan added: “Although the images are not of the best quality, we are hoping that someone might recognise his appearance, clothing, the bike he is riding, and the circumstances of this incident will prompt people with information to come forward.
“In addition, I ask for people in the area to check your CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage to see if the man pictured has been captured on your footage, as any information no matter how small, could be vital to the investigation and get them brought to justice.”
