Two men have been charged after the discovery of a cannabis farm following the execution of search warrants at three adjacent properties in Norris Green on Thursday 29 August.
On attendance, officers located an entrance to the property on Scargreen Avenue barricaded with doors and soil. They found more than 450 cannabis plants and dried cannabis inside.
Klisman Cara, 32 years, of no fixed address and Kleo Topi, 18 years, of Rufford Road, L6 were arrested and later charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity. They were remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today (Friday 30 August).
The Cannabis Dismantling Team attended to clear the property and Crime Scene Investigators carried out forensic enquiries. Scottish Power attended to make the property safe and Liverpool City Council cleared the debris resulting from police excavations inside.
Chief Inspector Steve Robinson said: "Cannabis farms pose significant dangers to those who live and work near them.
"We will act on all information provided to us about where they are to reduce the harm caused by drug supply, so come forward if you have any suspicions."
A video in which Matt Brown, head of our Matrix Cannabis Dismantling Team explains how you can spot signs of cannabis being grown near where you live can be found here - https://youtu.be/rc59i2dsZHM
Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:
- Strange smells and sounds
- Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
- Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
- Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
- Heat from an adjoining property
- Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
Individually these activities may seem commonplace, however, together may indicate something more suspicious
