We can confirm that two males have been charged following a stabbing in Newsham Park on Monday 19 August.
At around 5.55pm, a 19-year-old victim was stabbed near to the bandstand and is currently in hospital in a stable condition.
David Whiteley, 19, of Portelet Road, in Old Swan, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and possession of a controlled Class B drug (ketamine).
A 15-year-old boy from Liverpool, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
They are both due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today, Thursday 22 August.
