A careers event and family fun day aimed at creating brighter futures for young people living in EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley is taking place in Huyton at the end of the month.
The event, ‘Who Will You Be?’ is being held at Jubilee Park on Dinas Lane on August 30th from 10am to 2pm.
Among those present will be the Army who will be bringing their BATAK hand eye co-ordination game machine and hang tough pull up bar; Merseyside Police’s Cyber Unit and the North West Regional Crime Unit will be showcasing a cyber escape room with VR headsets; Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service will also be there with a road and water safety team who will be demonstrating their rescue boat and fire engine with high reach platform.
In addition, Everton in the Community will be present at the park and will be delivering multi-sports sessions including football, tri-golf and kin-ball as well as providing an insight into STEM-based activities. MD Dance Productions will be delivering some performances with an opportunity for the public to take part in workshops, hear from people who already access MD Productions' 'See You See Me' project and find out how to join the sessions from September which are free of charge to all.
Blundell’s of Liverpool will also be there to offer career advice and will be funding the face painting and balloon modelling, while the Rapid Relief Team will be providing complimentary hot food to all.
Organiser of the event Sergeant Nicola Parsons, who is one of the officers involved in EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley, said: “Everyone involved in EVOLVE is passionate about helping to build a better and brighter future for those who live within our Clear, Hold, Build communities.
“The event at Jubilee Park will be a fun day out for families at the end of the summer holidays and an opportunity for older children to receive careers information from the police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, the Army, Everton in the Community and Blundell’s of Liverpool.
“There will be lots of free activities and food available for all who attend and we hope it will be a fun day for all.”
Lara King, Director of Children and Youth Services at Everton in the Community, added: “We are proud to be supporting this family fun day in Huyton which will bring together the local community whilst also providing young people with aspirations for a brighter future through the variety of activities available on the day.
"The EVOLVE project is very important to us at EitC as we work closely with key partners from across Liverpool and Knowsley to best support our communities.”
EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley was launched in Dovecot, Yew Tree, Longview, Page Moss and the immediate surrounding areas in August 2022 in response to the murders of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt Korbel, 28-year-old Ashley Dale and 22-year-old Sam Rimmer.
The project sees police and partners working closely together in communities blighted by serious and organised crime to create stronger, safer and more resilient neighbourhoods.
Those involved in EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley include Liverpool City Council, Knowsley Borough Council, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, EFC, LFC, MerseyCare, Riverside Housing, Livv Housing Group, Prima Housing, Onward Housing, the Probation Service, Change Grow Live and local community groups.
