Four men have been arrested following a reported attempted burglary of a shop in Anfield in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 10 December.
At around 1.10am it was reported a group of men were trying to break into the rear door of a newsagents on Rocky Lane.
The suspects then made off towards Sheil Road.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area. Four men were arrested on Lower Breck Road on suspicion of attempted burglary.
They were a 19-year-old of no fixed address, a 28-year-old from Anfield, 32-year-old year from Stoke-on-Trent and 33-year-old from Gateshead. They are still in police custody to be questioned.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Although we have made four arrests in connection with this crime, we ask that anyone who witnessed four or five men acting suspiciously on Rocky Lane at around 1am this morning to please contact us.
“I also urge residents and those driving by at that time to please check your CCTV footage to see if anything captured will help with the investigation.”
Detective Inspector Fletcher added: “Merseyside Police has launched its annual Christmas campaign, Operation Shepherd, aimed at preventing crime and protecting communities during the festive period.
“This operation will see an increased police presence across Merseyside, with officers patrolling shopping centres, Christmas markets, and other popular festive locations to help keep the public and businesses safe.
