Investigation into two house fires in Garston

An investigation has commenced following two house fires in Garston on Friday 27 December.

We received a report at around 2.50am that two houses were on fire on York Street. Merseyside Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the flames. 

The occupants of one property received medical treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital as a precaution.

The second house had no occupants inside.

A joint investigation between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police is underway to establish the cause of both fires.

CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “Thankfully no one was seriously hurt from the incident as both house fires could have spread to neighbouring properties, causing risk to life and extensive damage.
“Our enquiries are ongoing with CCTV and witness enquiries being carried out.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone was in the vicinity of York Street at the time to contact Merseyside Police with any relevant information and I ask that anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam footage in the area checks their cameras to see if they have anything suspicious.”
