A Liverpool man has been jailed for three years for multiple business burglaries, thefts and assault.
William Gould, 48, of East Prescot Road, pleaded guilty to three offences of burglary other than dwelling, four offences of shop theft, assault and battery.
The offences relate to two burglaries at the Express by Holiday Inn hotel in Liverpool in July and a burglary at Slaters Menswear in Liverpool city centre also in July; two shop thefts at Forbidden Planet on Bold Street in May and June and two shop thefts at Waterstones in Liverpool city centre in June and July.
He was jailed for 32 months for the burglaries, four months to run concurrently for the shop thefts, three months to run concurrently for one assault and four months consecutive for the second assault.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Stealing from businesses is not victimless. It impacts people’s livelihoods and their incomes and we have a zero-tolerance approach to those who choose to commit such crimes.
“We will continue to work with our local businesses and communities to deter and prevent business burglaries and would welcome any information from the community about other burglaries or the sale of stolen goods.”
Information can be passed on via 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
This year’s annual Christmas campaign is aimed at preventing crime and protecting communities during the festive period. The ‘crime cracker’ theme to Operation Shepherd aims to encourage people to take steps to guard against the types of crime that can happen at Christmas.
