A man has been arrested after officers located a damaged car with yellow paint on it following a fail to stop collision involving a marked police van in Birkenhead.
At around 1.25am yesterday, Sunday 15 December, officers in a yellow Mercedes Sprinter police carrier attempted to stop a white BMW at the junction of Old Chester Road and Green Lane.
As an officer attempted to get out of the van the car was driven towards the van, hitting the door. It then drove off.
An officer suffered an injury to his shoulder during the incident.
Enquiries were carried out and officers located the car, which had yellow paint down the driver’s side and damage to the door panels, at an address in New Ferry.
Following a search of the vehicle suspected Class A and B drugs were recovered.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled drug Class A (cocaine) and possession of a controlled drug Class B (cannabis).
He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
