A Wirral man has been issued with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and banned from certain supermarkets following allegations of theft.
Robert Edwards-Sutton, 38, of Lansdowne Road, Birkenhead, was given the CBO at Wirral Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Wednesday 11 December.
The CBO stipulates that Edwards-Sutton can’t enter any Tesco, Aldi, or Co-op store in Wirral and he can’t remain within 100 yards of any shop in Wirral when asked to leave by a staff member.
He is also banned from wearing any form of face covering or cause harassment, alarm, or distress to any member of staff in shops.
Edwards-Sutton was also sentenced yesterday for a theft from Boots, on Grange Road, in Birkenhead, on Tuesday 3 December 2024. He pleaded guilty and received a fine for £120.
Neighbourhood policing Inspector Nicola Hughes said: “Criminal Behaviour Orders are extremely effective and should Edwards-Sutton breach the conditions of this order, he will be arrested, returned to court and may be jailed.
“The neighbourhood policing team will continue to seek similar orders against those who seek to cause harm to our communities or encourage others to do so.
“I would actively encourage any members of the public who witness Edwards-Sutton breaching his CBO or committing offences to report this to Merseyside Police to contact @MerPOlCC or call 101.”
