We are appealing for information following a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Liverpool this morning, Monday 16 December.
At around 7.05am, it was reported that a black Mercedes had been involved in a collision with a man aged in his 50s at the junction of St Anne Street and Hunter Street.
Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital with a head injury. He is in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene.
A road closure remains in place as we carry out the initial stages of the investigation and motorists are advised to avoid the junction and find an alternative route.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, the lead investigating officer from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said : “We have launched an investigation into the circumstances of this collision and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward.
“Similarly, if you were driving through the area at the time, please review your dashcam footage in case you captured anything that could assist our inquiries.
“A road closure remains in place as officers carry out the initial stages of the investigation. This is causing congestion and motorists are advised to find an alternative route. Thank you for your patience.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam can contact Merseyside Police on 101 or DM @MerPolCC quoting log number 148 of 16th December.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
