We have arrested two people after two men were assaulted and a car stolen in Wirral.
The men had travelled from Coventry to Wirral to sell a car, a VW Golf, on the afternoon of Saturday 7 December.
While in Wirral they stopped at a corner shop where they were both subjected to an unprovoked assault by group of unknown males, suffering slash wounds to the back and leg.
The VW Golf was left at the scene of the assault while the two men sought hospital treatment and was later stolen.
Last night, Tuesday 10 December, Matrix officers spotted the car on Well Lane in Birkenhead and activated their blue lights to stop the car. The car carried on before being abandoned on Holt Hill. The occupants of the car were pursued and detained nearby.
