We have arrested two men on suspicion of going equipped for theft following a stop check in Tranmere.
Matrix officers were on patrol on Derby Road at around 10pm last night, Thursday 26 December, when they sighted two males riding pedal cycles.
The two males were detained and following a search an imitation firearm, a hammer and two lock pick kits were located.
A 44-year-old man from Oxton was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of an imitation firearm.
A 32-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, and for being wanted for failing to stop and driving while disqualified in relation to a separate incident.
Both are currently in custody.
