We have seized a drone as part of a temporary flight restriction zone in place above Liverpool city centre
The flight restriction zone forms part of the policing operation while HMS Prince of Wales is docked at Liverpool Cruise Terminal.
On Wednesday 4 December, Merseyside Police and Ministry of Defence (MOD) officers sighted a drone in the restricted air space. The pilot was located and the drone has been seized. The offence will now be investigated.
The restriction will remain in place until 10am on Monday 9 December, meaning it will be an offence for any unmanned aircraft to fly below 2,000 ft above sea level in the designated area (pictured), without the explicit permission of Merseyside Police.
We would like to remind all UAS operators of their responsibility to follow the regulations set by the Civil Aviation authority (CAA), failure to do so could lead to do your drone being seized, or prosecution.
Please check CAA guidance: https://register-drones.caa.co.uk/drone-code/where-you-can-fly
@MODPolice and @MerseysidePolice will be monitoring all drone activity to keep everyone safe.
The area marked in red denotes the restriction zone.
