Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault in St Helens last month.
At around 12.50pm am on Thursday 14 December it was reported that a man ran up behind a woman outside B&M on Church Street and hit her over the head with an object, causing her to fall to the ground. The offender then walked off.
The victim in her 40s was not injured from the assault but was left very shaken.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued an image of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “This was an unprovoked and cowardly attack on a woman who was walking along the street, and she was left very shaken by the attack.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which can help with our investigation to please contact us.
“I am also appealing to the man featured in the image, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 23001271034.
