We are appealing for information after a Moreton pub has been broken into twice with alcohol stolen.

It was first reported that The Mockbeggar Hall on Hoylake Road was burgled at around 5.25am on Tuesday 30 January, and a male wearing a balaclava stole bottles of spirits before fleeing the scene.

Then today (Wednesday  31 January), a further report was received that the alarm was activated at around 4.15am and alcohol was stolen. A male was seen running down Barnston Lane.

An investigation is underway including witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out.

Community Inspector Sharon Robinson said: “Business burglaries is not a victimless crime, as it has a negative impact on our local economy and community.

“We have increased patrols in the area to detect criminality and enquiries are ongoing in order to keep our communities safe.

“We encourage people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We’ll act on all information provided.

“I would like to appeal to residents to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it may have captured anything which may help with our enquiries and contact us so we can bring the offender to justice. If you have any information no matter how small or irrelevant you may think it is please pass it on to us as it could be what we need to identify the offender.”

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact us @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 24000132920.
