Two men have been arrested after over £11,000 was seized at a property in Kirkdale.
Just before 7.30pm on Wednesday 10 January officers stopped a man cycling along a road in Kirkdale after they noticed a strong smell of cannabis.
Officers searched and arrested the 19-year-old man from Kirkdale on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
An address was later searched by officers in the area where several bags of cannabis, white powder, suspected to be Cocaine and over £11,000 in cash were found.
Officers then rearrested the 19-year-old ma n and another 51-year-old man from Kirkdale on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug – namely Cannabis and Cannabis Resin, possession of a controlled class A drug – namely cocaine and possession of criminal property.
They were taken to a police station in Merseyside and later released under investigation whilst officers continue to investigate the incident.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Over £11,000 and a large amount of drugs that could have caused serious harm in our community has been seized thanks to our officers who quickly spotted and arrested two men on suspicion of several serious offences.
“This arrest is just one example of the work we carry out, day in, day out to target those involved in drugs trading and bring them to justice.
“Our officers will continue to target criminals, thoroughly examine any evidence and carry out the necessary arrests to prevent such crimes that can destroy our communities, so if you have any information of drug dealing in your area please contact us.”
