Detectives have arrested a fourth man in connection with an incident in Southport on Friday night, 19 July.
We were contacted at 8.25pm after a 20-year-old man reportedly fell from the rear of a moving white Peugeot Boxer van during a suspected motorbike theft on The Promenade/Leyland Road.
The man suffered head and chest injuries and has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
In the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 23 July, we arrested a 32-year-old man from Halewood on suspicion of attempted murder and assisting an offender. He is currently in custody.
