We can confirm that a man from Kirkby has been arrested following a high-value burglary in Lydiate earlier this year.
On Friday 1 March, it was reported that a home had been broken into and several items stolen, including a car, watches, jewellery and cash.
The stolen car was later found on Sunny Road, in Southport, and a police dog was able to find a discarded balaclava and gloves nearby.
Following ongoing inquiries, a 38-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested yesterday, Wednesday 3 July, on suspicion of burglary. He has been conditionally bailed.
Detective Inspector Kevin O’Rourke said: “I hope this arrest and the ongoing investigation to find the person responsible shows our communities in Merseyside how seriously we take burglaries.
“To be a victim of burglary can have a profound effect on the lives of victims, from the shock and unease felt by having somebody invade your home, the inconvenience of losing property, through to the often severe long-term psychological impacts.
"It’s also worth having a look at the different ways you can make your homes unattractive targets for would-be criminals. Advice is available on our website for locks, cameras and other measures to bring greater security and peace of mind.”
