A man has been charged following reports of a burglary in Kensington on Saturday (6 July).
We were called to a report of burglary at a house on Cambria Street North just after 9am.
It was reported the offender stole car keys from the house and drove away in the owner’s silver Mercedes car shortly before 4am.
Roads Policing Officers assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter were deployed after the car was seen and following a short pursuit, it was stopped and the driver detained.
Jason Paul Franey, 34 years, of no fixed address was arrested and later charged with burglary and theft, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, drink driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without a valid insurance and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis).
He was remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Remand Court today (Monday 8 July).
