Man charged with cannabis production in Old Swan

A man has been arrested and charged after cannabis farm was found in Old Swan yesterday, Monday 8 July.

Officers were on patrol on Prescot Road when cannabis could be smelt emanating from property, and following a search they discovered nearly 250 cannabis plants at different stages of maturity.  

The premises was made safe by our Cannabis Dismantling Team and our enquiries are ongoing.

Ervis Husa, 34 years, of no fixed address, was charged with production of cannabis and abstract electricity.

He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning, Tuesday 9 July, and was remanded into custody.

Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:

- Strange smells and sounds

- Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times

- Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting

- Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed

- Heat from an adjoining property

- Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather

Individually these activities may seem commonplace, however, together may indicate something more suspicious.
