We have arrested three males on suspicion of burglary and drugs offences and recovered a number of suspected stolen bikes from Dovecot and Old Swan.

Officers from EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley attended a report of a burglary at Bowland Avenue, Childwall in the early hours of Thursday 18 July 2024 after an electric bike and a pedal bike were stolen from the shed.

One of the bikes had been fitted with a GPS tracker and was identified as being in the vicinity of a house on Kingsheath Avenue in Dovecot.

Officers attended the house where they found the three males and on investigation discovered a number of suspected stolen bikes in the back garden including three Surron bikes and two scrambler bikes.

A quantity of cannabis and paraphernalia were also discovered inside the property and seized.

A 17-year-old male from Dovecot, an 18-year-old man from Old Swan and a 55-year-old man from Dovecot were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and handling stolen goods.

Warrants were executed at two further houses. At one of the houses officers seized a number of electric bikes, mobile phones, three swords and a dagger.

The 18-year-old was additionally arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons in a private place.

All three were taken to a police station on Merseyside for questioning. The 55-year-old man was released under investigation while the other two males were released on conditional bail.

Superintendent Tony Fairhurst, one of the senior officers involved in EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley – one of three Clear, Hold, Build areas in Merseyside tackling serious and organised crime, said: “We are determined to disrupt and deter those intent on committing criminality in Merseyside to make our neighbourhoods safer places for all.

“Those intent on committing crime has a significant impact on the lives of those around them.

“We are seeing good successes but to make the greatest impact we need the public to continue to tell us about crime in their neighbourhoods so we can take action and get these individuals off our streets as well as get help for those who need it.”
