A man has been arrested after a firearm, bullets and drugs were recovered in Islington yesterday evening, Thursday 26 July.
At around 6.20pm officers were on patrol along Everton Road when they saw a man acting suspiciously in Grant Gardens. Officers detained the man and following a search of the area located a suspected firearm, drugs and cash. The weapon has been made safe and forensically recovered.
An 18-year-old man from Everton was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, and possession of criminal property. He remains in police custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
Detective Inspector John Mullen said: “This is an important recovery as it means that there is one less weapon on our streets which could have been used to cause fear and intimidation in our communities.
“It is absolutely vital that we get all information from those communities who feel the impact of gun crime, so we can bring those responsible to justice.
“We rely on community intelligence to discover where weapons are being stored and who is using them and I would ask that the public continue to be our eyes and ears.”
If you have got any information about the use or storage of weapons and drugs please DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
