We have arrested a woman on suspicion of drugs offences after several wraps of suspected Class A drugs were found inside a tent in Liverpool City Centre last night, Sunday 7 July.
At around midnight an officer spotted a woman allegedly giving out drugs to a man on Cropper Street before returning to a tent in the area.
The officer searched the woman and found a large sandwich bag containing a quantity of white and brown wraps. Officers then searched the tent and found a quantity of cash and five more wraps of brown powder.
The 40-year-old woman from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
She was taken to police station in Merseyside and has now been released under investigation.
Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “Thanks to the vigilance and alertness of our officers, we have found and seized several wraps of suspected Class A drugs that could have caused serious harm to people in our city centre.
“I hope this arrest reassures visitors of our city that we are committed to disrupting any criminal activity which destroys our communities, and we remain dedicated to removing drugs off our streets.”
“Our investigation into this incident is still ongoing therefore we urge anyone who has any intelligence or knows about drug dealing in this area to please contact Merseyside Police social media desk @MerPolCC using reference 24000595266 so we can investigate."
