We are appealing for information after a collision involving a car, a scrambler bike and an e-bike in Aintree this evening (Sunday 23 June).
It was reported shortly after 7.55pm that a black Ford Fiesta had been deliberately driven at the bikes at Oundle Drive near Altway in Aintree.
Two men on a scrambler bike and a third man on the e-bike were knocked off and the car made off from the scene.
A 29-year-old man has attended hospital with a leg injury and a 27-year-old was taken to hospital with a head injury. A third male also presented with minor injuries.
A road closure was in place on Bradfield Avenue and Altway for a forensic examination of the scene.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes. We thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident.
We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Detective Inspector Morley said: “Our investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, but it does appear the car was deliberately driven at the bikes, and we are working to establish a motive and identify the driver.
“This incident has left three men requiring hospital treatment and would have been shocking for any witnesses.
“We have launched an investigation into what happened and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it, or the movements of the car immediately afterwards.
“Our officers are continuing to undertake an extensive search of the area and studying CCTV footage to establish the full circumstances and locate the car and its driver.
“I appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, and any residents living locally who might have CCTV of a black Fiesta in the area just before or shortly after 8pm to please contact us. Alternatively, if you were driving in the vicinity I ask that you please check your dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or the car and to also come forward.”
