Working in partnership with local businesses, our Local Neighbourhood Policing Team, and Liverpool Investigations we are welcoming a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in relation to Jeff Dey of no fixed abode.
Dey, aged 34, was issued with the CBO by Wirral Magistrates Court on 30 May 2024 after being convicted of two counts of theft and one of attempted theft.
The CBO bans Dey from entering a large area of the city centre, illustrated on the map (see image below).
Under the terms of the order, Dey must:-
Not enter the area bounded by and including RANELAGH STREET, HANOVER STREET, LIVER STREET, STRAND STREET, JAMES STREET, LORD STREET, NORTH JOHN STREET, HARRINGTON STREET, RAINFORD SQUARE, MATHEW STREET, STANLEY STREET, WHITECHAPEL, HOOD STREET, LIME STREET.
Not enter any Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Spar, Lidl Store/Supermarket or Home Bargains within the County of Merseyside.
Not remain in any shop premises if asked to leave by a member of staff of those premises within the County of Merseyside.
Not act or encourage others to act in an anti-social manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress to one or more persons not of the same household within the County of Merseyside.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector and Retail Crime Lead, Jack Woodward, said: "Dey is a prolific retail crime offender who has persistently targeted stores across Merseyside. I want to thank local businesses and stores for working with us and providing us with sufficient evidence to bring Dey to justice.
"This is a strong Criminal Behaviour Order which will assist in protecting businesses and we would encourage the community to report all occasions where Dey breaches his order.
"Unfortunately, Dey has already breached this order which came to our attention through our partnership working with City Watch which meant he was arrested and charged for the breach. We are committed to taking action and supporting our local business and the wider community by making sure that anyone who breaches a CBO will be arrested and returned to court to face the consequences of their actions."
