We are appealing for information following several burglaries in Yew Tree in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 9 June).
So far 12 burglaries have been reported in the area .
Two of the incidents happened at addresses on Capricorn Close between 3.00– 4.30am where it was reported that two men were seen on doorbell footage trying door handles of properties in the area.
It was reported that the suspects also entered an address on Crossford Road where they were found in the Living Room of the house. They were chased out of the property and ran away into another garden.
Two other attempted burglaries took place on Scorpio Drive where again it was reported that two men were seen on doorbell footage trying door handles of properties in the area.
Other attempted burglaries happened on Finch Lea Drive, Aries Close, Gemini Drive, Leo and East Prescot Road.
Police have increased patrols in the area and have now arrested a 30-year-old man from Liverpool on suspicion of burglary who remains in custody.
CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Kevin O'Rourke said: “These burglaries have caused serious concern within our community where residents should feel safe and secure in their own homes.
“Although we have arrested one man in Liverpool this evening I want to reassure the community that we are committed to finding the two suspects responsible for committing such crimes and bring them to justice.
“We have increased patrols in the area to detect criminality and enquiries are ongoing in order to keep our communities safe and find any remaining suspects.
“I would like to appeal to residents to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it may have captured anything which may help with our enquiries and contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice. If you have any information no matter how small or irrelevant you may think it is please pass it on to us as it could be what we need to identify them.”
