Five men arrested after machete seen in Liverpool street

We arrested five men and seized a machete after a group of men were seen shouting in Liverpool yesterday (Thursday 13 June).

Officers were called to Hall Lane at 7pm to a report a group of men, some wearing balaclavas, had been seen heading towards Edge Lane, and that one was carrying a machete.

The men were seen to enter a property on Hall Lane and on entering the house, officers located a number of men inside.

There were no reports anyone was assaulted during the incident.

A machete and baseball bat were seized, along with a large quantity of cannabis and paraphernalia associated with drug dealing.

Five men were arrested:

• A 28-year-old man from Halewood was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), robbery and affray
• A 33-year-old man from Halewood arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife/blade in a public place, possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), robbery and affray
• A 23-year-old man from Kensington was arrested on suspicion of , possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), possession of a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), possession of an offensive weapon in a public place
• A 29-year-old man from Norris Green arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), robbery and affray
• A 52-year-old man from Norris Green was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and Class B controlled drug (cannabis), robbery and affray

Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “Knife crime has no place whatsoever in our communities. We continue to carry out stop checks, warrants and land searches to take weapons off our streets, but the assistance of members of the public coming forward with information about such incidents is vital to ensure the safety of families and residents.

“We know those involved in drug dealing often used threats, intimidation and violence to maintain their illicit trade. As in this case, the public can play a vital role in helping us locate people suspected of being involved in the use of weapons or drugs.

“If you have any information including who is carrying, using, or storing knives or weapons, please come forward so we can continue to disrupt offenders and bring them to justice.”
