We are appealing for information following an incident in Walton yesterday evening, Thursday 6 June.
At around 9pm, we received a report that loud bangs were heard close to Sainsburys Petrol Station on Rice Lane.
Five males dressed in dark clothing were seen running down the alleyway between the Petrol Station and the service road to the main store.
No injuries were reported.
An investigation has commenced to understand the circumstances, and a search of the area is being carried out.
Around 20 minutes later it was further reported that a silver Ford Kuga was on fire on Saxonia Road. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Sainsbury’s on Rice Lane at around 9pm yesterday evening who may have seen five males acting suspiciously to contact us.
“I urge people to check your CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage capturing the incident or the five males in the area and making off from the scene which will help with our enquiries. Any information you provide, however, insignificant it may seem, could be vital to the investigation.”
If you have any information on this incident, or who has information which could help us with our inquiries, is asked to DM @MerPolCC, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook’ or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 24000506009.
