Man arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in Dovecot

Officers from EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley have arrested a 36-year-old man from Dovecot on suspicion of drugs offences after spotting his car being driven erratically.

Officers were on patrol on Wednesday, June 12 at around 1:10pm when they spotted a car being driven in an erratic manner on Grant Road, Dovecot.

The officers approached the car to speak to the driver and noted he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

As a result, a search of his car was conducted and nearly £1000 in cash was seized along with a small quantity of Cannabis.

A subsequent warrant executed at his home address resulted in a large quantity of Cannabis being seized. 

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, drug driving and a public order offence relating to homophobic comments made to an officer.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning and released pending further investigation.

Inspector Kieron Hogan, one of the officers involved in EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley - a Clear, Hold, Build project in Merseyside, said: "Our officers work hard to stop those engaged in illegal activity who put the lives of others at risk, and we will not tolerate them being abused.

"Drugs play a large part in serious and organised criminality and we are committed to ridding our streets of these crimes.
