We have arrested two men on suspicion of burglary following an incident in Newton-le-Willows in the early hours of this morning, Monday 10 June.
At around 3.25am, officers were called to Newton RC Club on Patterson Street to reports of a break-in. Patrols attended and detained two men on nearby Cross Lane.
A 40-year-old man from Speke and a 27-year-old man from Speke were arrested on suspicion of Burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal. They remain in custody for questioning. A sledgehammer was found at the scene and has been forensically recovered.
