A woman has been arrested after a report of a domestic disturbance in Litherland in the early hours of today (Saturday 22 June).
We were called to Bridge Road just before 2.45am where it was reported a man had sustained minor cuts to his head after being assaulted by a woman inside a flat.
The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers attended and a 43-year-old woman from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “Domestic abuse can happen to anyone and we have specially trained officers who will listen to victims and support you with sensitivity and compassion.
“I would ask everyone to look out for family members, friends or neighbours that may be suffering. By contacting us, you could be helping someone who is too afraid to help themselves. Everything you tell us is taken extremely seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.
“If you want to report domestic abuse, contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or seek specialist support call the free and confidential 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.”
