Woman charged following investigation into burglaries in Liverpool

We can confirm that a woman has been charged following an investigation into burglaries in Liverpool.

Maxine Tomney, 54, of Geneva Road, Liverpool, has been charged with four counts of burglary and she appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens Adult Remand Court this morning, Tuesday 4 June. She was remanded into custody to next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 2 July.

It follows an investigation by officers from Operation Assure into burglary offences committed in Liverpool between January and May this year from properties on Christopher Street in north Liverpool, Marybone in the city centre, Walton Village and Swiss Road in Kensington.

Detective Sergeant Hannah Marren said: “We take all reports of burglary extremely seriously and we have specialist officers who are able to investigate this form of criminality.

“Burglaries can have a massive and long-lasting impact on the person and families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.
