Detectives are appealing for information following an assault in Childwall tonight, Sunday 10 March.
Emergency services were called at around 7.30pm to Childwall Valley Road after a man was found unconscious in the street after being assaulted.
It was further reported that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a man in a white Golf car who got out and struck the victim.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment for a head injury. He is now in a serious but stable condition, which are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.
An investigation is underway including witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries which are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector David Sung said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area of Childwall Valley Road, by the Fiveways roundabout at around 7.30pm onwards to please come forward and help with our enquiries, as your evidence could be vital to the investigation.
“I would also appeal to drivers and people with CCTV in the area who might have captured something on their dash cam and CCTV to come forward and speak to us.”
