We are appealing for information following a suspicious incident in Cyril Cook Park, in Knowsley, on Friday 22 March.
At around 10.30pm, it was reported that a woman was walking in the park, which is between Twickenham Drive and Muirfield Road, when she was approached by a man.
They had a brief conversation before the man reportedly tried to grab her arm, but she was able to walk away towards a nearby housing estate.
It was then reported that the man briefly followed her before returning towards the park.
The woman was thankfully unharmed but left understandably distressed by the incident.
It was reported to police later that same evening and our enquiries are ongoing to locate the man and question him about the incident.
He is described as a white male, around 6ft 1in tall, with dark hair, blue eyes, has a heavy build, is around 45 years of age and spoke with a Scouse accent.
At the time it was reported he was wearing a yellow top, possibly Nike, with a hooded jacket, jeans and trainers.
Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “I want the community to be assured that we are taking this report extremely seriously and in response we have increased our patrols in the area.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to locate this male and question him about the incident. If you have any information or saw anything suspicious on the evening in question, please let us know.
“Similarly if you live in the area and have CCTV, please check to see if you captured anything that could help our ongoing investigation.”
