We can confirm that emergency services are currently in Vauxhall following a reported gas leak on Waterloo Road.
It was reported at 12.24pm and Merseyside Police are in attendance to assist Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and electrical and gas representatives.
A number of residential properties and stores are currently being evacuated and road closures are in place. We are advising members of the public to avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.
There is no estimated time for the removal of the road closures and evacuations. Officers would like to thank members of the public and motorists for their co-operation at this time.
