We can confirm that emergency services are in Kirkby following a report of non-injury firearm discharge inside a property this evening, Friday 2 February.
Just before 7pm, we received a report that a male had entered a property on Henlow Avenue in Southdene and fired a gun. He was accompanied by another male who stayed outside the property.
It was further reported that the two males were dressed in black and wore balaclavas. They then rode off on purple and lime green electric bike and a black bike.
No injuries were reported.
An investigation has commenced, and a search of the area is being carried out.
Chief Inspector Paul Rannard said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Henlow Avenue at around 7pm this evening who may have seen two male acting suspiciously to contact us.
“I urge people to check your CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage capturing the incident or the two males in the area and making off from the scene which will help with our enquiries. Any information you provide, however, insignificant it may seem, could be vital to the investigation.”
Chief Inspector Rannard continued: “Merseyside Police immediately responds to incidents involving guns and is actively working to make the region a safer place to live and work.
“There is no room for guns on the streets and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
“Any information from the public is vital if you know where guns are being stored, I urge you to contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
