Investigation underway following non-injury firearm discharge in Tuebrook

We can confirm that emergency services are in Tuebrook following a report of non-injury firearm discharge at a property yesterday evening, Thursday 8 February.

We received a report just before 9pm that a male wearing a balaclava fired a gun at the front door of a house on Clarendon Road and ran off towards Suburban Road and Lower Breck Road.

No injuries were reported.

An investigation has commenced, and a search of the area is being carried out.

Chief Inspector Dave Currie said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation, and while I understand this is a shocking incident for the local community we have a large police presence in the area carrying out a number of lines of enquiry and I would encourage people to come forward and tell us what they know.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Clarendon Road at around 9pm this evening who may have seen or heard a male acting suspiciously to contact us.

“I urge people to check your CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage for any footage that may have captured the incident or making off from the scene which will help with the investigation.”

Chief Inspector Dave Currie continued: “There is no room for guns on the streets and we will do everything we can to find the person or people responsible for this incident and bring them to justice.

“Merseyside Police immediately responds to incidents involving guns and is actively working to make the region a safer place to live and work.
