We have today, Thursday 22nd February, charged a man with firearms offences following an incident in St Helens.
At around 11.55am on Monday 19th February we received a report that a 36-year-old man had been injured at a house on Derbyshire Hill Road.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to a facial injury consistent with a gunshot wound and has since been discharged.
We have now charged Anthony McCall, 36, and of no fixed abode, with possession of a firearm; possession of ammunition without a certificate; possession of a firearm when prohibited for life and possession of ammunition for a firearm when prohibited for life.
The incident is believed to have been isolated. There are no reports of any other injuries and we are not looking for anyone in relation to the investigation.
