Detectives from our new, specialist Criminal and Child Sexual Exploitation Team (CCSET) have arrested three people and seized suspected cocaine following warrants carried out today, Friday 9 February.
The activity is part of an investigation concerning suspected drug supply by a suspected County Lines crime group.
Warrants were executed this morning in Croxteth, West Derby and Bootle, resulting in the following arrests and the seizure of cocaine:
A 22-year-old man from Croxteth was arrested on suspicion of Possession of a firearm; Possession with intent to supply cocaine; Conspiracy to supply cannabis; Concerned in the supply of Ketamine; and Concerned in the supply of cocaine.
A 17-year-old boy from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to possess a firearm/ammunition.
A 17-year-old girl from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to possess a firearm/ammunition.
All three have been taken to police stations for questioning.
Speaking after the arrests, Detective Inspector Steve Croasdale from the CCSET said: "These arrests are just one part of our investigation, and we will continue to gather evidence and intelligence to build a full picture. I want to assure those residents who saw this activity that such action is necessary, and thank them for their patience as our officers carried out their work.
“The CCSET is a new team formed to greater combat those suspected crime groups who look to cause harm through the exploitation of young, vulnerable people in the areas in which they operate. The team has links to our many valued partner agencies, which enables us to share information, assess risks, and take the appropriate action, whether that be warrants like today, or safeguarding measures.
“We carry out a great deal of work alongside our partners to ensure that those who are at risk of exploitation can be identified and protected. This includes the safeguarding and diversion of young and otherwise vulnerable people, as they look to move away from the harm caused by becoming embroiled in serious criminality.
“People recruited by such enterprises might not see themselves as victims, and might even be blinded by the offers of money and other incentives, but those higher up the chain are well and truly exploiting them to keep their own hands clean.
“Information from our communities can be vital in dismantling suspected organised crime groups. When information comes to light about firearms, ammunition and drug supply, we will always respond swiftly and ensure that robust action is taken. If you know where firearms and ammunition are being stored, tell us, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, and we can continue to make the streets safer from serious and organised crime.
“We will use every possible power available to protect, safeguard and support those who are willing to come forward.”
