Two people arrested after drugs, weapons and money seized

Two people were arrested yesterday, Sunday 11th February, after a quantity of drugs, weapons and money were found.

Officers were on patrol when they stopped a blue Volkswagen Golf on Dagnall Road, Kirkby and smelt cannabis emanating from the vehicle. Following a search officers found a quantity of suspected cannabis, drugs paraphernalia and a sum of money.

A further search of a property in Crosby was conducted which resulted in a large quantity of cash, controlled drugs, a high value watch, knife and a baton seized.

A 28-year-old man from Crosby was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property, possession of a controlled Class B drug and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a dwelling failing to wear a seatbelt.

A 35-year-old man from Crosby was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property, possession of a controlled Class B drug and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a dwelling.

The two suspects are still in police custody.

Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: "These arrests were part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Drug dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children.

“We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Merseyside.

“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
