We can confirm that a man has been arrested following a fatal road traffic collision in Bebington on Monday 4 March.
At 7.41pm, we received reports that a male pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a black BMW 1 Series at the junction of Teehey Lane and Roland Avenue.
The pedestrian, aged 83, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and sadly died two days later.
A 39-year-old man from Oxton was arrested yesterday, Monday 18 March, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst disqualified from driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision.
He remains in police custody and will be interviewed by detectives.
Sergeant Simon Duffy said: “Although we have made a further arrest, we are still appealing for anyone with information to please come forward to assist the ongoing investigation. Regardless of how significant you believe your information is, please contact us and a detective will review your account.”
“I would urge anyone who travelled along Teehey Lane between the junctions of Kennet Road and Well Lane, to contact my team. The first call to emergency services was made at 7.41pm, so I am particularly keen to hear from anyone in this area, in the minutes prior, especially if you have dashcam.
"If you have any information, dashcam footage or you travelled through the area at this time, please contact us as soon as possible. Following the collision, the vehicle was driven towards Sandymount Drive where it was abandoned. I would also extend my appeal to anyone who saw a black BMW 1 series with damage to the front and driver’s side or anyone getting out of the vehicle around Sandymount Drive."
Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to DM @MerPolCC, contact SCIU on (0151) 777 5747, or email [email protected] quoting reference number 24000226643.
