A 23-year-old man has today, Friday 15th March, been convicted of criminal damage to a motor vehicle after a glass bottle was thrown at the Manchester United team bus ahead of a game at Anfield in December.
Lewis Cleary, of Langrove Street, Liverpool, appeared at Sefton Magistrates Court where he was given a three-year football banning order and a community order of 150 hours unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay a £500 compensation order and costs.
The charge followed an incident in which a side window on the Manchester united team coach was damaged as it was making its way along Anfield Road ahead of the game of 17th December 2023. Nobody was injured during the incident.
