Man jailed following burglary of home in Bootle

A man who caused significant damage to a house in Bootle and stole a passport and several other items has been jailed.
 
Wesley Bradley, aged 20, of no fixed abode has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for burglary and other crimes including drugs offences, breach of suspended sentence and failing to surrender.
 
On Tuesday 21 November Bradley broke into an address in Bootle by smashing a side window and climbing through the house.
 
Bradley ransacked the house and stole several items including a passport and a Moncler designer branded jacket.
 
Following enquiries by detectives from Operation Castle, which is our ongoing burglary campaign, crime scene investigators carried out forensic examinations at the house and recovered DNA samples from the front door and on the bed inside a room of the address. The blood samples were tested and resulted in a positive match to the DNA of Wesley Bradley.
 
Bradley was arrested on Monday 8th January and charged with burglary dwelling and theft.
 
He was jailed for 12 months for the burglary but received 11 more months for other crimes he committed.
 
Detective Inspector Kevin O’Rourke said “Bradley clearly had no regard for the people he was stealing from and was intent on destroying their home and stealing several items. 
 
“Burglaries can have a massive impact on the person and families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through and can often have a long-lasting impact on victims. 
 
“Thanks to the hard work of our officers involved in Operation Castle we continue to have successes in the apprehension, charge and conviction of offenders.
 
“We hope that this sentence not only helps Bradley’s victims, but also shows the extensive work our officers carry out to bring those responsible to justice.
 
“I urge residents to look at the different ways you can make your homes unattractive targets for would-be criminals. Advice is available on our website for locks, cameras and other measures to bring greater security and peace of mind.”
